 Overview of the Family Fest Sale

 Family Fest Discount Cards are sold by Scouts for $10.00 each.    The Discount Cards contain peel off discounts to local businesses that can be redeemed from March 2008 through December 2008.  The deadline for ordering Discount Cards is February Round Table.  The Discount Cards will be distributed at March Round Table. 

 Unit commission is 40% if your unit settles on or before Family Fest on May 3, 2008.  After May 5, 2008 your commission will drop to 30%.  After May 31, 2008 your commission will drop to 15%.  Return Policy: Units will NOT be charged for unsold Discount Cards returned on or before Family Fest, May 3, 2008.    

 Need new equipment?  A trailer? A pinewood derby track? Tents?  Do all your Scouts receive Boys Life magazine?  Do all your Scouts attend Cub Scout Day Camp or Boy Scout summer camp?  Do all of your Scouts and leaders have a full uniform?  Would you like to buy the next Cub Scout Handbook or a Boy Scout Field book as a gift before summer break for your scouts?  Would you like to fund summertime pack activities or  summertime supertrips?  If you answered YES to any of these questions, you need the Family Fest sale.

 Steps to Discount Card SUCCESS!

                  Generate enthusiasm for the sale with parents,  leaders,  and Scouts.

                  Set a unit sales goal.  Think of what the unit or Scouts may need in terms of equipment and program. 

                  Host a unit Kick-off event to hand out Sales Kits and create excitement.  Maintain excitement through weekly contact                                   and encouragement.

                  Use a combination of proven sales techniques.

                                Sell to family, friends, and  neighbors.

                                    Parents sell to co-workers.

                                Show & Sell at local businesses with high traffic.

                                Blitz communities door to door.

NEW for 2008!  Unit Leader Award:  Each Den Leader, Cubmaster, Scoutmaster,  or Crew Advisor whose Scouts sell 10 cards each will be eligible to receive a Family Fest T-Shirt and Back Pack.  To receive the award, all active Scouts in the Den, Pack, Troop or Crew must participate and sell 10 cards.  Submit your award form with unit prize form at Family Fest. (Online at www.familyfest.cfcbsa.org)

 

New for 2008 Top Council Seller:  The Scout who sells the most coupons by May 3 will receive a Go-Kart!  The winner will be announced Monday, May 5.  The Go-Kart is now on display in the lobby of the Wayne Densch Boy Scout Service Center.

 

Weekly iPod Drawing:  Encourage your Scouts to sell 20 cards quickly so they can register to win an iPod Nano!  To be entered into the weekly drawing, a Scout must sell 20 cards, then submit your name, phone number, mailing address, unit number, and shirt size  online at www.familyfest.cfcbsa.org or fax to 407-889-4406.  We will be giving an iPod away every Monday of the sale starting March 24th.

Family Fest Event Information

 Family Fest Event Guidelines

    ?  Submit Booth Commitment form by March Roundtable.

     Each Unit is responsible for their exhibit area .  Post signs relating to booth theme, unit number, and sponsor.

   ?  Each Unit is responsible for providing all necessary equipment and removing all their materials after Family Fest.

     Advertising or selling items from your activity area is prohibited.

     Each Unit exhibit will remain set up until the 3 p.m. closing time.

 How to Have a Successful Exhibit

   ?  Get everyone into the act.  Develop an exhibit in which each member of your Unit can participate.

     Create your program activity to provide an exchange of discussion between the visitor and the Scout participants.

   ?  All demonstrations and explanations should be done entirely by the Scouts. However, one adult is required in each area.

     Use give-a-ways in the form of samples of work being done in your demonstration.

     Schedule barkers to to explain to the public what is going on inside your booth.

     Think Scouts in action.

Rules and Regulations

Booth:  Standard Booth size will be 10 x 15.  You may request a larger size if your demonstration calls for additional space.  Electricity and water are not available at all Family Fest locations.  Make any special requests in advance.  Bring:  chairs, sun screen, water, insect repellent, lunch, etc.

Parking:  We will let you know where your booth area will be upon your arrival.  Unload your equipment when you arrive.  After you unload, park in a designated area.

Showtime: Each location will be available for set up by 8:00 am.   Units should be set up by 9:00 am.  The event is 10:00 am-3:00 pm.

Fire Regulations:  Cooking demonstrations are permitted.  Minimum use of charcoal is encouraged.  Use good judgment.  Open ground fires are not permitted.  See your District Family Fest Event chair with questions.

 Discount Card Settlement: At Family Fest, the district Family Fest sales team will be on site to assist you in reconciling the sale.  Be prepared to turn in any unsold cards, your unit prize form,  and funds less commission.  Daytona Lagoon passes and Family Fest patches will be awarded on the spot.  The remainder of prizes will be distributed by June 30th.

 Use Family Fest as an opportunity to plan a summertime activity for your Scout group.  Decide now when your unit is going to Daytona Lagoon.  Make sure all your scouts and families know if they sell 10 cards, the Scout goes FREE.

 Thanks to a great partnership with Daytona Lagoon, your Scouts can pick any day of the summer to use their FREE ticket.  Selecting a day for your unit to go together will increase the amount of FUN.
