Authorized American Red Cross Provider
Updated January 21, 2005
Camp La-No-Che Health &
Safety Certification Classes:
The Central Florida Council
has signed into an authorized provider agreement with the American Red Cross. The Boy Scouts of America National Office signed an
authorized provider agreement over a year ago and suggested all the local
councils to consider signing local authorized agreements with the local
American Red Cross Chapters. The Boy
Scout of America and the American Red Cross has similar goals and actually
provide Health and Safety training to their members and the community. Both organizations provide Lifeguard, First
Aid, and Safety training and we can pool our resources to be better prepared
for emergencies. The American Red Cross
provides their training resources and tools for the Boy Scouts to enhance our
training. The Boy Scouts of America
helps the American Red Cross with our volunteers being better trained,
additional American Red Cross Instructors and also our membership signing up to
be American Red Cross volunteers.
Matt Ragan, Director of Camps
& Properties, has completed the American Red Cross Instructor training for
CPR, First Aid and AED. Also, Kathy
LaBar and Pam Ragan received the Instructor Certification in January 2005.
Camp Programs is offering the American Red Cross Health &
Safety Training & Certification.
Some of the programs are as follows:
F.A.C.T. (First Aid for Children Today:
youth grades K-3); BAT (Basic Aid Training: youth grades 3-5) and CPR/First Aid/AED
certification training (grade 6 to adults) at camp. We are waiting to receive our final supplies from
the American Red Cross to begin offering the Health & Safety classes. Youth, Units, Leaders and Scouting Family
members will be able to register for this certification training on
weekends. There is a cost for this
trainings/certification; however the Boy Scout members will be discounted up to
25% off the normal charges of the American Red Cross depending on the
class. Your unit FME donations help to
reduce the cost of these Health & Safety classes.
