Central Florida Boy Scouts Appoint New Executive Director

 

 

The Executive Board of the Central Florida Council, Boy Scouts of America, is pleased to announce the appointment of Ron A. Oats as the new Central Florida Council Scout Executive.

Ron A. Oats previously served as the Deputy Regional Director of the Southern Region, Boy Scouts of America located in Atlanta, Georgia. He has a long record of service as a Scouting professional, including having served as the Scout Executive of the Gulf Steam Council, based in West Palm Beach and several positions in the South Florida Council, based in Miami.

As Deputy Regional Director, Mr. Oats was responsible for the membership and operations of the 93 councils throughout the Southern Region. He is also credited with launching the Boy Scout Southern region's Latino "Soccer and Scouting" program, he was instrumental in the implementation of the “Learning for Life” character education program in Florida and gave leadership to many other Scouting initiatives in the 13 states served by the Southern Region.

“I can’t tell you how excited I am,” Oats commented on his recent appointment, “to have the opportunity to lead one of the most successful Boy Scouting programs in America today. The Central Florida Council has been a beacon of pride for this organization for decades.  I look forward to the challenges of leading the Scouts of Central Florida to higher plateaus in the years ahead”.

Central Florida is the one of the largest Boy Scout Councils in America, serving youth in Orange, Osceola, Seminole, Volusia, Brevard, Lake and Flagler Counties.
