2006 Summer Camp Staff Openings – Apply Now!

We have openings for the 2006 Camp La-No-Che Summer Camp.  We are asking all Troops, OA Chapters and Adult Leaders to please recommend and promote with their best Scouts to apply for the Camp La-No-Che Summer Camp staff.  The Central Florida Council Camp La-No-Che Summer Camp staff is being built now and we want the best ever staff to help lead our camp.  Please help us by sending us recommendations for your best Scout youth 14-17 years old and older help also with adults 18 years old and above!

 

If you are 18 years old and older, we have openings in our program management, Adventure Camp and Food Service.  Youth 15 to 17 years old may apply for our Program Counselor positions in all areas including our popular Aquatics, COPE, Climbing and Adventure Camps.  If you are 14 years old, then you can apply to attend camp as a Counselor in Training (CIT). 

 

The interviews are planned for February and early March 2006.  The staff training three weekends are being held in late April and May 2006 which staff is paid to attend (CIT attend as a requirement for CIT program).  Then we have summer camp from May 28, 2006 to July 22, 2006.  Staff and Counselor in Training are required to attend the Staff training weekends.  Staff may work a couple of weeks to the full 8 weeks this summer.   Counselor in Training participants must attend a minimum of two weeks beyond the staff training weekends.

2006 Camp La-No-Che Summer Camp

 

The 2006 Camp La-No-Che summer camp is accepting reservations.  Week 2 and Week 3 are just about full and if you are planning to attend camp, you can find out about the summer camp availability by following this link.  Also, you can download our 2006 Leader’s guide at the Central Florida Council BSA or the Camp La-No-Che websites.  If you need a 2006 Camp La-No-Che Leader’s Guide CD, please e-mail matt@camplanoche.com or call the camp office at (352)669-8558.

 

Merit Badge online registration will begin January 16, 2006 and if your unit is registered for summer camp, we will send you the user id and password for merit badge scheduling registration.

Week 1:  May 28-June 3, 2006                      Week 5:  June 25-July 1, 2006

Boy Scout COPE & Climbing Program

 

The COPE and Climbing Committee at Camp La-No-Che is offering their programs to Troops in the Winter/Spring 2006. 

 

COPE is offered to Boy Scouts 13 years old and above.  Your troop would arrive on Friday evening and leave Sunday around 4:00pm.  Your Scouts would attend safety classes on Friday evening.  Saturday would involve program in the Initiative Games and Low COPE course.  Then Sunday would involve the High COPE course.  The fee is $45 per Scout and you will need a minimum of 6 Boy Scouts.   Also, each Scout will need a current Class 3 Physical.  If you are interested in checking for space or have additional questions, please e-mail to cope@camplanoche.com.

 

Climbing Program involves either a climbing experience or working on the Climbing Merit Badge.  The Climbing Experience involves setting up a time to visit the camp for a morning or afternoon and the fee is $6.00 per scout.  The Climbing Merit Badge is 10 hours of class and climbing and the fee is $25.00 per Scout.  Your scout will need to be strong physically enough to climb and have an up to date physical.  If you are interested in checking for space or have additional questions, please e-mail to climbing@camplanoche.com. 

 

 

Boy Scout Camping

 

Central Florida Camps have space for Boy Scout camping at the following camps:

 

Camp Rybolt – Located at the Winn-Dixie Scout Reservation; Camping with latrines and a water.  Rybolt is located next to the Florida Trail; Camp La-No-Che and the Ocala National Forest.  Camping fee is $1.00 per night per person.  When staying at Camp Rybolt; program space may be available at Camp La-No-Che.

 

Camp Pooh Bear – Located at the Winn-Dixie Scout Reservtion; Camping is primitive.  Camp Pooh Bear is located next to Pooh Bear pond; Florida Trail; Camp La-No-Che and the Ocala National Forest.  Camping fee is $1.00 per night per person.  When staying at Camp Pooh Bear; program space may be available at Camp La-No-Che.

 

Camp COPE – Located at the Winn-Dixie Scout Reservation.  Camp COPE is a program area where youth 13 years old and above can participate in our COPE program.  COPE fee is $40 per person for the weekend which includes program from Friday evening through Sunday 4:00pm with two bag lunches included.  

 

Camp Mitchell – Primitive camp located in Lake Helen, Florida.  Camp is 500 acres and has been noted by many volunteers as the real Florida.  Camping fee is $1.00 per night per person.
